NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Thanks to a dominating effort in all facets, the Southern Connecticut State University football team blanked Pace, 61-0, for its third consecutive victory. The final margin of victory was the largest in any shutout in school history.
Southern Connecticut improved to 3-1, 2-0 in Northeast-10 play with the win. Pace is now 1-3, 0-2.
Running backs Rashaad Slowley (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Vaughn Magee (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) both broke the 100-yard mark in the win. Slowley finished with 13 rushes for 113 yards and three total touchdowns, while Magee had six rushes for 110 yards and two scores. Kevin Lynch (Medfield, Mass.) completed 13-of-15 passes for 213 yards and four touchdowns. Andre Privott (Middletown, Conn.) hauled in eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown, while Willie Epps (Norwalk, Conn.) added four catches for 79 yards and two scores.
The SCSU defense added two more interceptions to bring its season total to 11, matching last year’s total in just four contests this year. The Owls held Pace to just 178 yards of total offense.
