Chris Zbin and Ryan Geffert Named to Daktronics All-East Region Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Chris Zbin (Colchester, Conn.) and Ryan Geffert (Plymouth, Pa.) of the No. 14 ranked Southern Connecticut State University baseball team have been named to the Daktronics All-East Region teams. Both Northeast-10 First-Team All-Conference selections, Zbin and Geffert were named First-Team All-East Region and Second-Team All-East Region respectively.

Zbin was one of four starting pitchers to be named to the First-Team ballot. He has a team-best 7-2 win-loss record with a 2.29 ERA. He has struck out 100 batters on the season to rank second in the Northeast-10 Conference and second all-time in Southern Connecticut history for strikeouts in a single season.

Geffert, a 2009 All-East Region selection, was named to the Second-Team after another stellar season. Geffert is second on the team with a .312 batting average and has a .640 slugging percentage, 59 hits, 55 runs scored, 14 home runs and 57 RBI. His 14 home runs are tied for third all-time in program history for home runs in a single season.

The Owls will face the winner of #22 Franklin Pierce or Stonehill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14.
